Funnel stage
Definition
Where the buyer is when they ask the question: finding out a category exists, comparing options, or choosing a specific product.
How it is calculated
A stage is declared on each prompt rather than read from its wording, because the same question can be a different stage for different people and no keyword settles which. A prompt with no stage still runs and is counted; the stage report lists how many are undeclared instead of assuming they are early-stage. Stage and question type are independent, so one prompt can be an early-stage commercial question.
